Many opportunities for your company in a market that grows at very high rate
Brazil is one of the global leaders in the agribusiness industry, and in 2010 the Brazilian agribusiness accounted for 25% of Brazil's GNP, 37% of the jobs in the country and 36% of its exports.

In relation to many of the segments that comprise the agribusiness sector Brazil ranks first in several of them in a world level. This solid growth led to a great demand for inputs that support the agricultural production, such as: fertilizers, agrochemicals, seeds etc.

As a consequence of it, Brazil's seed industry today has a leading position worldwide, and future projections indicate that such sector will continue to grow at high growth rates solidifying Brazil's leading position as one of the four major players in the global seed market in terms of value.

The International Seed Federation projections for the world seed market (March 2011) considers the domestic seed market in Brazil is around U$2 billions! It puts Brazil as the fourth largest seed market in the world.

The value above for the Brazilian seed market we could consider conservative and it should keep growing especially due to the increase utilization of GMO in crops like corn, soybean, cotton, etc.

Forecast are that other seeds types like vegetables, forage, sorghum and now especially sweet sorghum, rice seeds will keep increasing their value. Vegetable seed is year by year having the impact of more hybrid utilization.

Grass seeds have a growing based on the expansion of beef cattle business, since Brazil becomes a key player on meat exportation on last years. Also Brazilian grass (forage seeds) has being exported more and more.

In segments like rice we see more hybrid utilization and in other segments the expectation is that farmers will decrease the utilization of "saved seed" and will start use improved seeds. Wheat is another crop, in which private companies has gained market share. Corn seed is the largest seed segment representing more than U$1 billion and still have a good percentage to be converted in GMO hybrids.

Soybean seed market is around U$700 millions and we need to consider that still around a reasonable portion of the market use saved seeds. The expansion of soybean crops in new regions should also create a demand for more seed volume.

Sorghum grain and forage had a good expansion on last two years and more recently sweet sorghum start to be potential crop to help complement sugar cane in ethanol production.

These reasons makes domestic and foreign seed companies to carefully look for the opportunities in the seed segment in Brazil.

MNagro started the activities in March2007 with the objective to provide support to the companies who want to invest on this promising segment.

Since that time we are involved in several different projects for local and foreign companies.

The experience of MNagro on the seed business could support your company in different ways as you can see on the next pages.
